A ‘Freak show’ offered him a job—but he turned them down.
For 35 years, Huang Chuncai has been suffering from numerous tumors which have been literally covering his face. Dubbed as ‘China’s Elephant man’, Huang is currently living a normal life with his family and siblings.
His facial tumours has reached a staggering 35 lbs, which didn’t allow him to socialize with other people. As a matter of fact, he stopped attending school after being bullied and harassed by other children. Now at 39 years old, Huang has been offered a spot at his own country’s ‘freak show’, which he declined.
Huang, who is from Yulan village in Hunan Province’s Yongxin County, in Central China, has been the subject of medical studies as well as in-depth documentaries over the past decades, after he was found to be suffering the world’s worst known case of neurofibromatosis. For him, that was enough of being thrown into the spotlight, and didn’t want to be tagged as a ‘freak’.
